On the 8th of July 2026 we began our hike from the Mountain Creek Campground. From there, we hiked 2km down a fire road to the Staircase Spur trailhead where we had our lunch, followed by the steep hike up to Bivouac Hut where we ended up spending the night.
On the following day (9th of July) we got up at 5:30am to prepare for the final ascent up Mount Bogong. We eventually reached Gorge Gap at around lunch time where we decided not to make the final ascent up the mountain due to the vast amount of snow.
